in international institutions such as the United Nations,
the World Bank and the European Commission.
Effective collaboration
with NGOs, think tanks, academics and church leaders on
advocacy and information campaigns in the United States,
the United Kingdom and the European Union.
As
Chairman of the Zimbabwe Democracy Trust,
I have worked very closely with Annabel Hughes
over the past three and a half years in her
capacity as Executive Director of the Trust.
I have been enormously impressed by the energy
and determination she has brought to this
task. She has been proved extraordinarily
effective in her lobbying of key members and
committees of the U.S. Congress and the British
Parliament ... and there are many senior Congressmen
and Members of Parliament who would be willing
to attest to this. She
has made a major difference in raising the consciousness and
level of concern in both countries about the situation in Zimbabwe
and also has proved extremely effective in disseminating timely
